Pontoon Bowfishing Boat with Swamp Eye HD Lights
Our customer, Mr. Keith H., generously shared the details of his pontoon bowfishing boat setup with us. While there are many types of bowfishing boats, information on pontoon builds is surprisingly scarce.
To help others interested in similar setups, we’re excited to walk you through Keith’s pontoon bowfishing boat build and share the insights he provided!
Keith's Goals:
- High-performance bowfishing lighting for a competitive edge in tournaments.
- Ability to adapt to changing water conditions instantly.
- No issue running on a generator, customer does not want to be constrained by a dead battery after a long couple nights of fishing and scouting.
- Maximum intensity with zero dark spots, especially at the front of the boat.
Keith's Lighting Setup to Accomplish These Goals:
-
8x Swamp Eye HD Bowfishing Light Kit
- Mounted in two banks: 4 on the left side, 4 on the right side.
- Utilizing Power Supply Mounting Bracket for Back of Light to minimize wiring on open rail style.
- Unmatched brightness, adjustability, and value among all high performance lighting options.
- Nearly 200,000 lumens of total light output, ensuring full front-to-back coverage with zero dark spots.
- Easy plug-and-play wiring allowed Keith to set up the lights in minutes without complicated wiring work.
- Fully color-adjustable lights let Keith instantly variably adjust from warm white for muddy water to cool white for clear water—or any setting in between.
How Keith Powered His Lights
Keith is powering his lights with a small and compact portable generator that allows him to get 8+ hours on a tank of gas (most generators only hold 1-2 gallons of gas). A small spare gas can allows Keith to literally run his lights for days without having to stop.
Light Rail on Keith's Pontoon Bowfishing Boat
Keith's boat features an open floor plan with open light rails and rigid diamond plate sheet metal at the top of his light rails. The diamond plate is a structural touch that allows bowfishermen to sit on them during long nights. There are removable seat pedestals that can also be mounted up in the front of the boat.
Keith's boat has no shortage of light output, as you can tell from these photos he sent us:
Not only do the Swamp Eye HDs broadcast a wide flood with zero dark spots, but they shine a significant distance as well. If you look closely, you can see how the house across the street is even illuminated.
Although the Swamp Eye HDs are only mounted on the front of the boat, this photo shows how much flood and coverage they truly have. This bowfishing pontoon boat has light coverage all the way to the rear portion of the boat despite no lights being mounted back there.
This photo shows each extreme for the color adjustability of the Swamp Eye HD bowfishing lights on Keith's boat. These lights can go to these extremes and anywhere in-between. They are also capable of being controlled on banks at a time via the OutriggerGo app or on manual control dials.
Red is a great color for illuminating the deck of your boat and giving your boat some style at night. Red is among the least-likely colors to attract bugs. Our DuraNav Interior and Exterior Rock Lights can be set to red among many other color settings depending on what you prefer.
