DURANAV® PRODUCT OWNERSHIP & INSTALLATION RESOURCE
Whether you have just purchased the DURANAV® Duck Boat Light Bar or are planning an installation, this guide covers the details that matter: what comes in the box, how the lights work, selecting a wiring harness, properly aligning the connectors, operating the included control dial, optional Bluetooth controls, and keeping the system in good condition.
This is the product-specific setup and ownership guide. If you are still comparing different duck boat lighting systems, start with our Best Duck Boat Light Bar Buying Guide. If your main question is which wiring kit to order, see the DURANAV Short Kit vs. Long Kit comparison.
1. What Is the DURANAV® Duck Boat Light Bar?
The DURANAV® Duck Boat Light Bar is a three-section LED lighting system designed for bow mounting on duck hunting boats. Instead of a single rigid beam direction, the outer light sections can be angled relative to the center section. This helps you tailor illumination to your boat's bow shape and the waterways you run.
Its defining features are adjustable 2000K–6000K color temperature, a flexible three-light layout, 12–24V DC compatibility, and a Building Block-style plug-and-play harness. The included manual control dial provides on/off and color-temperature adjustment, with optional app-based control available through a separate Bluetooth controller.
The ownership guide identifies the assembly as IP67-rated and designed for marine use. As with any marine electrical product, proper mounting, wiring, and connector assembly are essential to preserving reliability.
2. What's Included with the DURANAV Light Bar?
The supplied ownership guide illustrates the three-section DURANAV light bar, the manual control dial, and a wiring harness. The exact harness configuration depends on the kit purchased.
| Component | What it does |
|---|---|
| Three-section DURANAV LED light bar | Provides forward and side-directed lighting with adjustable outer sections. |
| Manual control dial | Turns the lights on and off and adjusts color temperature from 2000K to 6000K. |
| Building Block wire harness | Connects the light bar, control dial, and battery/power connection using keyed plug-and-play connections. |
| Mounting hardware / brackets | Used to secure the assembly to a suitable bow mounting surface; confirm the contents of your specific kit. |
Optional: The OutriggerGO Bluetooth Controller is a separate accessory; it is not the standard manual dial included with the kit.
3. Lighting Performance: Three Adjustable Sections, Color Temperature, and Beam Placement
Adjustable angles
The three-section design lets you aim the outer sections outward for additional near-bank and peripheral coverage or bring them closer to a straight configuration for more concentrated forward coverage. Aim the lights after mounting, and check that their beams do not produce distracting reflections off the deck, bow, or other hardware.
2000K warm light to 6000K cool white
The system supports adjustable color temperature from 2000K warm white/amber appearance to 6000K cool white. Warmer settings may be more comfortable for some operators in reflective conditions; cooler settings provide a different visual appearance for spotting shoreline details. Neither color makes dense fog safe to navigate. Brightness, beam aim, and speed still matter.
Brightness and control
DURANAV supports adjustable lighting control, including brightness options with the compatible OutriggerGO Bluetooth controller. The included manual's quick-start instructions specifically describe pressing the dial for power and rotating it for color temperature; do not assume the manual dial operates every app-only function.
For a broader comparison with traditional fixed LED light bars, see our duck boat light bar buying guide.
4. DURANAV User Manual: Read This Before Installing
The illustrated ownership guide supplied with the light bar provides a quick-start overview, wiring diagrams, adjustable-angle examples, specifications, and essential safety practices. We recommend reviewing it before mounting or energizing the system.

Manual control dial: basic operation
- Connect the harness to the appropriate DC power source with the power off and correct polarity.
- Push the control dial to turn the lights on.
- Rotate the dial to change color temperature between 2000K and 6000K.
- Push the dial again to turn the lights off.
The manual advises turning the lights off using the control dial before disconnecting power. Disconnect the power source before any wiring work.
What the manual identifies
- 12–24V DC operation
- Adjustable 2000K–6000K color temperature
- IP67 water-resistance rating
- Three adjustable light sections
- Manual on/off and color-temperature control
- Optional converter for generator operation, sold separately
5. Short Kit vs. Long Kit: Choosing Your Harness
The two harness options are designed to accommodate different wiring distances; they do not change the light bar's LED performance.
| Kit | Harness length | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| Short Kit | 9 feet | Boats with a suitable protected power connection relatively close to the bow. |
| Long Kit | 29 feet (9 ft + 20 ft extension, as illustrated in the supplied ownership guide) | Boats that need a longer wiring run, such as those with a battery farther toward the stern. |
Measure the actual cable route along the boat, allowing for bends, routing around hardware, and strain relief. The Long Kit is sometimes labeled the Deluxe Wire Kit in the supplied manual; check the product option name when ordering.

6. Critical: How to Install the DURANAV Connectors Correctly
Connector alignment is one of the most important installation steps. The supplied connector installation guide warns that forcing a misaligned connector can cause a short circuit and permanently damage the lights. Do not connect power until every connector has been checked.

Four steps for every connection
- Check alignment. Locate the keyed/grooved inserts and the alignment arrows on the connector bodies. Position the arrows so they face each other and the keyed features line up.
- Connect gently. Push the mating connectors together until fully seated. Never force the connection or try to mate the connectors backward.
- Tighten the collar. Once fully seated, tighten the threaded locking collar completely to secure the connection.
- Verify. Confirm that the connection is tight and cannot be pulled apart without releasing the collar.
Repeat these checks at every harness connection point, not just the connector closest to the light bar. The supplied graphic specifically calls out keyed alignment at the multi-pin connector and arrow alignment at the inline connectors.
Should you use dielectric grease?
Yes. The supplied installation graphic recommends applying dielectric grease to the connector pins before mating the connectors to add moisture and corrosion protection. Use an appropriate product sparingly and keep the connector fully seated and locked; grease does not correct misalignment or replace the seals and locking collar.
For a closer look at the design behind these connections, read How the Outrigger Outdoors Building Block Wire Harness Works.
7. Wiring the DURANAV to Battery Power or a Generator
12–24V DC battery setup
The ownership guide depicts the red/brown positive (+) lead connected to battery positive and the black/blue negative (−) lead connected to battery negative. Always verify the labeling on the actual harness before connecting it. Use a properly protected circuit, suitable wire size, and secure connections.
For lithium battery setups, verify the actual maximum battery and charging voltage against the light bar's operating range; the words “12V” or “24V” on a battery alone do not establish compatibility.
Generator setup
The supplied manual shows generator operation using a converter sold separately. Do not connect the DC light bar directly to a 120V AC generator outlet. Use only a suitable, properly sized AC-to-DC power supply or converter (the Powermax PM4 12V 35 Amp Converter or Powermax PM3 24V LK Series 25 Amp Converter will work) and follow the applicable instructions. The manual also recommends using GFCI-protected outlets with generator power.
Important: Disconnect power before wiring, installing, or servicing the system. Auxiliary lighting does not replace legally required navigation lights.
8. Standard Manual Control Dial vs. Optional OutriggerGO Bluetooth Controller
Every standard DURANAV Duck Boat Light Bar kit includes the manual control dial. You do not need to buy Bluetooth equipment to switch the lights on, switch them off, or change their color temperature using the dial.
For users who want additional control options, the light bar is also compatible with the separately available Bluetooth Controller for the OutriggerGO App. The app ecosystem offers expanded lighting adjustments and control options beyond the standard dial, depending on the connected lighting system and current app version.
See the October 2026 OutriggerGO App Update for details on recent software improvements and available functionality. Confirm current compatibility and installation instructions on the Bluetooth controller product page before ordering.
9. Mounting, Aiming, and First-Time Setup
- Choose a solid bow mounting location. Confirm clearance for the adjustable sections, fasteners, other accessories, and the cable route.
- Position the light bar. Start with the center section aimed forward and angle the outer sections as needed to illuminate banks and near-field obstacles.
- Route the harness safely. Avoid sharp edges, moving parts, pinch points, standing water, and areas exposed to excessive abrasion. Support the cable and leave appropriate strain relief.
- Mount the control dial. Choose a location the operator can access without interfering with safe boat operation.
- Mate every connector correctly. Follow the keyed alignment, arrow, collar, and dielectric grease instructions in Section 6.
- Connect to protected power. Verify polarity and the fuse and wiring requirements for your product revision.
- Test before leaving the ramp. Confirm on/off, color-temperature adjustment, stable operation, and proper aiming. Recheck all connections after testing.
The manual shows the bar in straight and progressively angled arrangements. There is no single ideal angle for every boat; adjust the lighting to minimize reflections and provide useful visibility in the places you navigate.
10. Maintenance, Storage, and Troubleshooting
Routine care
- Inspect mounting hardware and confirm the light bar remains secure.
- Check connector collars, cable supports, and insulation for wear or damage.
- After exposure to saltwater or heavy mud, clean and dry accessible exterior surfaces according to the product's care instructions.
- Before trailering or storing, turn the lights off and follow the manual's power-disconnection guidance.
- Never unplug or reassemble electrical connectors while the circuit is energized.
Lights do not turn on
With power disconnected, verify the battery/power source, fuse, polarity, control connection, and all keyed connector alignment. Reconnect only after every collar is fully tightened.
Lights flicker or operate intermittently
Check for loose or partially seated connectors, damaged wiring, unstable power, and poor battery connections. The connector guide warns that loose or misaligned connections can cause improper performance.
Color adjustment does not respond
Confirm the manual dial is connected and the lights have power. Press the dial to turn the system on, then rotate it to change color temperature. If using Bluetooth, check the controller and current app setup separately.
Connector will not mate
Stop. Do not force it. Disconnect power, inspect the keyed inserts, and reposition the connectors so the arrows face each other. If a pin or housing is damaged, do not energize the system until the issue is resolved.
