How to Mount Bowfishing Lights to Versa Track / T Rail / T Track on Boats

We've been in the bowfishing business a long time, and every year we hear of new creative ways to mount bowfishing lights to your boat. We've seen people mount Swamp Eye Light Bars literally 15 ft up in the air, put Swamp Eye HDs on individual swivel rods, and many more out of the box methods.

The purpose of this article is to tackle a problem that is becoming more common among bowfishermen who have multi-purpose boats (most commonly duck hunting boats): how to mount bowfishing lights in an easily removable manner. The result of this often stems from using the versa track (Tracker Boats) or T rail system that is factory installed in the boat.

We'll take you through the step by step process to make this happen.

Step 1: Select the Right Bowfishing Lights

Buy bowfishing lights that are going to fit a versa track or T rail system. Often times they have to be very low profile and lightweight, while still capable of packing a punch in terms of brightness. Our two bowfishing lights we have that were built for this are our Swamp Eye Silent Series and Swamp Eye Gen 2.X Light Bars.

These two bowfishing lights are:

  • Color adjustable for increasing visibility in clear or muddy water.
  • Have a wide, intense flood beam pattern directed to the water for maximizing visibility while minimizing power consumption.
  • Compatible with OutriggerGo app for controlling banks of lights together or separately through your phone and increasing/decreasing brightness, changing colors, and more custom control features.
  • Compatible with Building Block Wire Harness to make wiring and setup a breeze for those not electrically inclined.

Step 2: Purchase the Correct Mounting Bracket

There are a couple different options here. We have seen people fabricate their own mounting brackets to fit the light of their choosing, or if you want something quick and easy you can do the following:

1. Purchase these LED Mounting Brackets off Amazon

2. Purchase this T Track Knob Kit off Amazon

Note: we do not receive any commission from Amazon for this recommendation. This is strictly to help our customers by utilizing a method we have learned works well.

For installation, please see the photo below and notice how these mounting brackets were not designed for this use (they are meant for mounting cube lights to side by sides) but they happen to work very well for this application. The mounting hardware that comes standard with the Swamp Eye Silent Series and Swamp Eye Gen 2.X Bowfishing Light Bars happen to fit these brackets perfectly.

Step 3: Get to Bowfishing!

P.S. If you have lights that will not fit this low profile style of bracket, here is a photo from one of our customers that they made themselves for their Swamp Eye HD Bowfishing Lights:
