Complete Guide to the MEGA SERIES Underwater Green Fishing Light

The Mega Series Underwater Green Fishing Light is our most durable, low-maintenance underwater light to date—engineered to outperform and outlast every competitor on the market.

Developed using over 10 years of real-world customer feedback, it addresses the most common challenges anglers face with underwater lighting.

This guide includes:

  • User Manual – How to properly use your light, detail list of components.

  • Assembly Guide (Required for Bulb Replacement) – Step-by-step instructions for initial setup and bulb swaps

  • Mounting Ideas – Proven methods to secure your light for optimal performance

User Manual

Due to high risk of the bulb breaking during shipping when fully assembled, we package the bulb separately and you must assemble and install the metal halide bulb and glass dome enclosure yourself. It is important to follow the assembly instruction guide carefully to ensure the light has a good seal. Please also follow this instruction guide when changing bulbs out.

Warning Statement

This light is for UNDERWATER USE ONLY. Power surges and outages can cause additional stress on the light. Please disconnect light from outlet during these times. In the event of a power disruption, allow light to sit without any power (completely disconnected) for 5 minutes before powering back on. In the event the light unexpectantly shuts off whether it is due to a GFCI outlet tripping, the light being unplugged, a switch turning off or any other power disconnect method, please allow light to sit without any power for 5 minutes before powering back on. This light should only be used on power circuits protected with GFCI and a circuit breaker.

When Installing or Retrieving the Light:

1.) Do not provide power or turn the light on during installation or retrieval. Always ensure the light is powered off before handling.

2.) Do not pull the light by the power cord while retrieving. Pulling on the cord may damage it or compromise the internal wiring connections.

3.) Use the reinforced tie plates to retrieve the light, or hand-retrieve it only after the light has been turned off. Two dedicated plates are provided for attaching a retrieval rope. Always secure your retrieval line to these reinforced locations to ensure safe handling and prevent damage. There is one retrieval line tie plate on each side of the light, circle in red in the below photo.

Assembly Guide

Step 1: Install Metal Halide Bulb

Note: Do not use any other type of metal halide bulb. This fixture is designed to operate only with the specified bulbs. Using an incompatible bulb may damage internal components.

Step 2: Install Silicone Sealing Ring on Glass Dome Enclosure

Step 3 & 4

Step 3: Set Glass Dome Enclosure with Silicone Ring onto Base

Step 4: Set Glass Fixing Ring Over Top of Glass Dome Enclosure, Align Bolts with Ring Holes.

Step 5: Hand Tighten Wing Nuts

Note: Hand Tighten the M6 Stainless Steel Wing Nuts. The wing nuts apply pressure to the top of the Glass Fixing Ring to completely seal and waterproof the glass dome enclosure. Please do not use power tools to tighten these at this time - that is next step.

Step 6: Fully Tighten Wing Nuts

Note: Fully Tighten the M6 Stainless Steel Wing Nuts in the order shown below with wing nut wrench. This is very important. If not tightened while evenly applying pressure, it can compromise  the seal as well as the sealing ring. Please tighten the wing nuts in the numbered order shown below. Torque Rating for Tightening: 0.80 ft lb

Step 7: Ready to Fish!

You are ready to fish! Check light daily for signs of moisture/condensation inside glass dome enclosure for first 3 days to make sure everything is sealed and tightened properly. (Do not  disassemble, simply check to see if moisture is present.) If moisture is present, then disassemble and follow steps 1 through 5 again and make sure the seal is seated properly and wing nuts are tightened to spec (0.80 ft lbs torque).

Mounting Ideas

Most Common Method

The most common mounting method for these lights is to simply place the light on the bottom, attach a retrieval rope directly to the light housing, and run the power supply line to a 110/120V AC GFCI-protected outlet. The illustration below provides a simple visual representation of this setup.

OTHER MOUNTING OPTIONS

If you find yourself using this light in an unconventional setting, there are many other mounting ideas and options for these underwater fishing lights. Here are some of the more commons ones we are aware of. If you are able to brainstorm and come up with a great option of your own for your light - send us some photos and we would be happy to share!

Option 1: Let Light Rest on Bottom - Attach Rope for Retrieval

This first option is very similar to the common method, the only difference being it is dropped from a boat. The weight of the light will hold it in place in most environments that are not highly turbid.

Option 2: Install Stake to Hold Light in Ground

The stake is not included with the light, but is sold separately. It will attach to the bottom of the light to help minimize the effect of current and turbid waters.

Option 3: Strap Light to Dock Post

Strap light to dock post using the strap slotted holes on the housing (see below photo circling these slots). Be careful to not over tighten strap as you can cause stress cracks on the housing if overtightened. We recommend straps with ratchets that are made from aluminum or stainless steel for best long term use underwater.

Option 4: Strap Light to Dock Post

A mounting bracket can be purchased separately to bolt the light directly to a dock post. We recommend using 316 stainless steel or aluminum hardware for best long term use underwater.
